Compra da Marvel pela Disney é oficializada

Após alguns meses desde a notícia da aquisição da Marvel pela Disney, finalmente é publicado o release informando que a transação está completa. Com isso, a Disney passa a oficialmente gerenciar e a promover novos filmes, desenhos e produtos utilizando os personagens da Marvel. Confira abaixo o release publicado em 31/12/09:

Advancing its strategy of delivering great branded content to people around the world, Robert A. Iger, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) announced today that Disney has completed its acquisition of renowned character franchise company, Marvel Entertainment Inc (NYSE:MVL).

“We´re thrilled to welcome to the Disney family the talented team at Marvel,” said Iger. “We believe the creative and business potential of this combination is substantial and can help us grow both our top and bottom line, leading to a significant increase in long-term shareholder value.”

Under the terms of the agreement and based on the closing price of Disney on Thursday, December 31, Marvel shareholders will receive a total of $30 a share in cash, plus approximately 0.7452 Disney shares for each Marvel share they own.

Marvel’s assets include a library of over 5,000 characters featured in a variety of media over 70 years and businesses, including licensing, movie production and publishing.

Neto de Walt Disney é acusado por posse de armas e drogas

LOS ANGELES — Um neto de Walt Disney foi acusado formalmente nesta quarta-feira por posse de armas e drogas, informou a promotoria de Los Angeles.

Patrick Disney Miller, de 42 anos, foi preso no dia 9 de dezembro passado, em sua residência de Woodlands Hills, noroeste de Los Angeles, por posse ilegal de armas e venda de munição.

Disney Miller responderá a 20 acusações, incluindo posse de um fuzil de assalto e posse de substâncias ilícitas.

Filho mais novo de Diane Disney Miller, única filha biológica de Walt Disney, Patrick será apresentado ao juíz na próxima quinta-feira e se for considerado culpado, poderá pegar mais de oito anos de prisão. (AFP)
